McCain Now Running Robo-calls Here in Arizona!

This news is from Talking Points Memo (TPM).  McCain has apparently been forced to spend money on anti-Obama robo-calls here in Arizona.  We don’t know the targets but they presumably include Independents and sporadic Republican voters.

McCain Now Running Robo-calls Attacking Obama In Home State Of Arizona!

Talking Points Memo, October 29th, 2008

John McCain and the Republican National Committee are now running robocalls attacking Obama as weak on terrorism — in McCain’s home state of Arizona, according to multiple readers from the state.

The call signals genuine worry about McCain’s home state at a time when several polls show the race to be much closer than expected there.

McCain’s robocall, which was played to us over the phone by Mary Joe Bartel, a retiree who lives south of Tucson, attacks Obama as unprepared to defend the country from terrorism, singling out Joe Biden’s recent remarks about the likelihood of Obama being tested by an international crisis early in his first term.

P.S. See the comment from L. Ray below, McCain is apparently calling Democrats in the Tucson area. Wow, what a waste of money. Better than 90% of Democrats are voting for Obama. “Only” 82% of Republicans are voting for McCain nationally and the numbers are worse here in Arizona.

One Response to “McCain Now Running Robo-calls Here in Arizona!”

  1. L.Ray Says:

    Dear Saddlebrooke Demos,
I am a registered Democrat in central Tucson. I have received five anti-obama calls so far. They have come since Thursday. I call the Republican party headquarters each time one comes and complain. I phoned Kyl and complained. Also, I am knocking on neighbors’ doors and discussing the situation. McCain has made a long-term opponent out of me. I will actively support any one who runs against him when he tries to be a senator again. This guy can’t be my president. Obama has got to win.
    Yours, L. Ray
