The W Administration (Worst Ever) has decided that the Geneva Convention will be honored in connection with detainees held by America in Guantanamo and presumably other secret prisons around the world. This is a development that many have veiwed as the most obvious human rights abuse in many years. The decision to ignore the Geneva Convention is one of the most controversial and dispised decisons of the past few years.

U.S. District Court Judge Harold Murphy threw out a newly enacted Georgia law that required voters to present a photo ID issued by the government. The judge ruled after a similar ruling by a Georgia State Court also ruled the requirement as unconstitutional.
Perhaps we Democrats should start similar lawsuits here in Arizona to roll back portions of Proposition 200. The judge ruled that the requirement to have photo IDs violated the rights and discriminated against citizens who did not have driver’s licences, passports or other government issued photo ID cards.

The Pinal County Democrats hold their meetings at 7pm on the third Wednesday of each month in Florence. We generally gather for a dutch treat supper at about 5:30 pm at the Mount Athos Greek Resturant at 444 N Pinal Parkway, in Florence. This is great opportunity to meet and greet fellow Democrats in an informal setting. The meeting is held at the offices of the Pinal County Attorney at 31 N Pinal St. Carpooling is generally available from SaddleBrooke. Hope to see you there!

Krista Pacion and Barbara McGuire squared off against Arizona Representative Pete Rios and both call for big changes in our Democratic representation in Legislative District 23. Pete Rios, the incumbent, told the audience that things were going quite well in Arizona this year.
Krista Pacion has been waging a spirited primary battle against the established candidate. She and Barbara McGuire both argue that old time Pinal politics need to change. Together they are running for two election spots. The winners will face two inexperienced Republicans in the November election.
